Mark, Chapter 2

Reflection question: Why do you think Jesus spends so much time with sick people, tax collectors, and sinners? What might this mean for our world/lives/church today?

  1. Jesus was love to those who historically were corrupt, dirty and unlovable. It reminds me the love of Jesus is not for the perfect or those who have it all together. Jesus' come to us where we are at and stands with us and loves us in the mess of life. I think the church would be a different, more welcoming and lively place if we modeled and lived that way.

  2. I wonder if society had placed judgment on the people seeking Jesus for healing and forgiveness. Jesus’ love for them was not based on judgment. He seemed to want everyone to know that they were forgiven and loved. When we let go of guilt, shame, and judgment, we open our lives to healing, both physiologically and spiritually. Jesus shows us today, that no matter what labels we may wear, our lives can be transformed to lives of healing, hope, and love.
