Reflection question: The man who is healed in this chapter of Scripture had been living in complete isolation. Alone. Afraid. Tormented. Jesus heals him and the man wants to say with Jesus. But Jesus says, "Go home to you friends." When the man returned home, how do you think he spoke with others about what had happened to him?
I think the man must have gone through an enormous change. It must have been a huge transformation for his family and friends to witness. I imagine he was very thankful to Jesus and in awe of his love and compassion.
ReplyDeleteI think he spoke with great excitement. He could have been filled with joy and happiness. He might have been in a euphoric state.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the above, but he could also have been frightened by the unknown reception he was going to get from his family and friends. He hadn't had any real interaction with them for years and knew they were frightened of him. I can see why they asked Jesus to leave. The pig farmer couldn't have been too happy loosing 2000 pigs. Sorry I am a farmers daughter. It must have been an amazing thing to see Jesus heal the mentally and physically ill and raise the dead. We still see miricles today, just not always so dramatically.
ReplyDeleteAwe and wonder.
