John, Chapter 4

Reflection question: The interaction between Jesus and the woman at the well is important for a variety of reasons.  These are two people who would have never been able to talk, and yet Jesus steps over all social boundaries in order to converse with her. What did you learn from the story of their interaction?

  1. I learned that Jesus already knew that she was a sinner and that she was headed for hell. He knew of all of her sins and if she would drink this water, then she would be saved. I think that this has to do with the baptism and of strong belief. I that you have to be reborn of the water and spirit to enter into heaven. Jesus can talk to her because He has no boundaries. Everyone is on an equal basis with Jesus.

  2. What suprised me in the story is that she, a sinner, went and told the town about Jesus and they belived in him. She is the type of person that in our world we would hardly listen to on matters of faith. Yet she brought others to Jesus. It teaches me that I need to be open to Jesus speaking to me though all the people in my life.
