Reflection question: The miracle of Jesus changing water into wine at the wedding in Cana is only find in the Gospel of John. Through this miracle, we learn some interesting things about Jesus. What do you find intriguing about this chapter?
I learned that Jesus is caring, compasionate, and I am not sure what the word is, but he didn't want everyone to know about the miracle. But obviously they would find out. I wonder how Mary knew that he could do something to help the major problem for this wedding couple? And then we go to the temple. What a contrast. Now we see anger, frustration, and yet power to do something about it. He didn't act in haste however. He took time to "make a whip out of cords". He was sad at the state to which his Father's house had become.
Of course, I think that the turning the water into wine was intriguing, but I find it intriguing that this "miracle" is found only in the book of Gospel of John. It makes me wonder why the other books don't discuss this miracle. It also is fantastic that He threw out the business men, and then tried to explain that in three days He would rebuild the temple, even though they didn't know what he was talking about.
