Background:
-John is the Gospel which is most unique; it really has its own flavor when compared to Matthew, Mark, and Luke.
-It is more poetic and mysterious.
Reflection question: What similarities do you see between the first chapter of John and the first chapter of Genesis? What do we learn about Jesus in this first chapter?
One of the similarities is how God created man, and how all things came into being through Him. I think we can learn that Jesus is all knowing; in that He saw Nathanael by the fig tree. Again, I think that He was teaching faith, by asking Nathanael ,"Do you believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree?" I think He was trying to figure out of strong Nathanael's faith was. Of course, He already knew that.
