-Reflection question: The people and leaders so desperately wanted Jeremiah's advice and guidance {which they knew was coming from God}, but push come to shove - they don't want to believe what he has to say. What makes it so hard for them to follow-through with Jeremiah's instructions?
There is nothing left for them in Judah so they think it must be better somewhere else. Aren't we all the same. The grass is always greener. God asks us to do hard things, trust him, obey him. Not always easy to do. I tend to worry about things I can do nothing about instead of trusting God. Lots of prayer and listening to God say in chapter 42, verses 11-12, "I am with you and will save you and deliver you....I will show you compassion." So don't worry.
ReplyDeleteI think the people wanted advice and guidance but did not have the passion to follow it. Old ways do die hard and they were used to their own way. They may have been afraid of change. I think stubbornness may have had some bearing also.
