I am glad to be doing this study. I have a hard time with the history, timelines, kings, cities, and keeping the plot straight. I need a flow chart!! I am so much more comfortable with the New Testament which is all the more reason I need to be doing this study. But the issues of judgement, restoration and justice were true back then just as they are today. God reigns supreme and He is consistent throughout history.
Question: Are the Recabites Jeremiah's family or are they refering to another Jeremiah in verse 3. I too am glad to be doing this study. I also struggle with the timelines and all the kings. My bible notes say that Chapters 34 and 35 are the close of the first major division of the book. Jeremiah's warnings are concluded with a historical appendix. So this is a summary of the book so far. So that is why the time lines is repeating some. So far in our study I get the message that God wants us to worship and praise Him and only Him. He does what he needs to get us to come home to him. This is where it gets tricky. Does God let bad things happen so that we will come back to him for help? I don't think so, but I do know that he is there for me in the bad time and the good.
