To me, true forgiveness is not letting bitterness reign. It is not re-hashing the wrong committed which only causes ongoing guilt. It means letting go, because in the end it is between God and me. I know when I harbor unforgiveness in my heart towards another person, it is like me taking the poison and hoping the other person suffers and dies. i like the promise that as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions. How blessed I am to receive such AMAZING GRACE.
I do know that it is not true that we forget when we forgive. We cannot forget the grievious wrongs done to us, but we can move on and as Annie says "not let bitterness reign". I do know that I am so blessed to have God's forgiveness for the wrongs I have done to others. The 10th verse really hit me. " I have deternined to do thei city harm and not good." It is so not the forgiving God that I know and love.
