1. The question today is more of a reflection. I really savored the last part of this chapter. Words of hope and promise to Jeremiah at a time when he was really struggling:
If you turn back, I will take you back,
and you shall stand before me.
If you utter what is precious, and not what is worthless,
you shall serve as my mouth....
I will deliver you out of the hand of the wicked,
and redeem you from the grasp of the ruthless.
Thoughts?
All I can say is that this is more like the God we have all been taught about and believe in.
ReplyDeleteAmen to that, Amy! :)
DeleteI too was glad to see a different view of God. It gives me hope. We are precious, he will deliver us, he will protect us.
ReplyDeleteYes, I like the end of the chapter also---after a very discouraging first part of it. THe people were so very stubborn that their hearts had grown so callous and hard that God had to punish them. They wanted to be rescued, but did not want to repent of their sins--- in other words, I feel they wanted to have things on their terms and God was not going to buy into it, The last part of the chapter Jeremiah was dismayed because he felt abandoned by the Lord, but God promised to save him and rescue him and protect him. God also told Jeremiah to influence the people and not let them influence him.
